R1ANT, Russian Antarctic Expedition 2008 Print E-mail

AntarticaA large Russian Antarctic Expedition did start last March 13th , at 8.00 leaving from Cape Town, South Africa, on board of "Academician Fedorov" on a route to Antarctica.

Planned goals are the following:
Station Progress, Station Mirnyj, Station Molodezhnaya, Station Novolazarevskaya.
There is a plans for visiting 2 more Antarctic bases including possibly Maitri Base.
Leading of Expedition is Valey Sushkov RW3GW who did replace Yuri Zaruba UA9OBA actually very busy. The Team includes the head of film-radioexpedition Michael Botchkarev (ex: UAØXB).
Callsign used will be R1ANT, while from on board of "Academician Fedorov " they will use R1ANT/MM. Special QSL VIA RW3GW the general producer and the author of the project "Antarctica".

Changes in program can be possible on the way on, depending on logistic & weather conditions.
