Rockall location, click to enlarge

The following update has just been released by Col McGowan, MM0NDX:

At 17.45 UTC, Mike (K9AJ) phoned Col from the yacht anchored near to Rockall, and asked him to convey this news to the waiting world.

Mike said there was a problem - no radio operation would occur due to the height of the swell. He quoted 15-20ft around the rock. Although the sea state itself was slight to moderate, the incoming swell kept battering off Rockall making it impossible to land.

The climbers tried a few times to land, but the inflatable dinghy they were in kept being lifted up 20ft, making landing impossible. Mike said they would

possibly try tomorrow, but was not optimistic at all. More than likely they will now return to St. Kilda. It was unknown if Mike would operate from
there.
