BangladeshHi friends

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission - BTRC has started taking the Amateur Radio License Test after a long gap of 4 years. They took the second test on 27th November 2008.

The test has been conducted through a Computer Based Testing (CBT) System. A total of 35 MCQ type questions were in the test. A minimum of 18 correct answers were treated as pass mark. The duration of test was one hour.

The good news is that a total of 84 candidates took the exam and among them 62 candidates have successfully passed.

This is really a good news for S21 HAMS as after a long gap the system has started again.

You may know since 2004, the amateur radio license issuing authority in Bangladesh had stopped taking examinations and issuing licenses to the enthusiast. After continuous lobbying for the last four years, executive members of the Bangladesh Amateur Radio League - BARL have finally been able to make the
concerned authorities understand the significance of Ham Radio Operators in a country with frequent natural disasters like floods and cyclones.

Three executive committee members of the BARL, S21RB (Engr. Belayet Robin), S21VA (Dr. Zahid Shipon) and S21SH (Saiful Huda) had a very fruitful meeting with the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission – BTRC on 21st of July 2008 .

Besides the Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission - BTRC, Major General Manzurul Alam (Retd) almost all the senior officials, engineers and technical experts of the authorities were present at the meeting.

Things become started changing after the meeting and today we are in a good shape and have achieved our goal. Hopefully the system will never stop again.

Regards,

Belayet Robin - S21RB
General Secretary
Bangladesh Amateur Radio League - BARL
