Bellingshausen Base on 160mts. Print E-mail
Written by Xavier
Wednesday, 31 October 2007

Bellingshausen BaseI would like to inform you that our good friend Oleg, UA1PBA, station  commander of Bellingshausen Base for many years has finally left for South Africa. He spent a couple of days in my QTH here in Moscow because he had to get the visa for ZS. I just got a SMS that he has arrived to Cape Town safely. Oleg will be the new technical manager of ALCI (Antarctic Logistics Center International) in Cape Town and he will do logistical support for international expeditions to Antarctica.

In the meantime I spoke with Rif, RZ3BJ, from Moscow who will leave these days for Novo Runway, Antarctica. He applied for R1ANR which shall be the new club call sign for Novo Runway. Also I spoke with Slava, UA1PAI, who will join the new wintering team of Bellingshausen Base. Slava will put a special emphasis on 160 m from Bellingshausen Base and he promised to continue the story of R1ANF DXpeditions to different refuges and bases.
By the way, I gave a couple of blank DP0GVN QSL cards to Oleg which he will send to Neumayer Base via the AWI staff who will stop in Cape Town. If you wish to get a direct QSL mailed from Neumayer Base, please contact Mirko, DP0GVN.

Best 73s from Moscow,

Dominik DL5EBE   (Op. UA3AWA)
